By the start of every year, I try to set a theme for the year, a word that will encourage me to add sparkle to my year.

For this year, I am choosing the word butterfly.

This insect has to go through 4 stages before becoming the final model we see in nature.

This blew my mind because it just reflects any process to achieve any goal.

You must work hard on many levels before becoming a wonderful, colorful butterfly!

This is the road of glory:

The first one is the Egg:

Maybe you are in this stage of life. You are still trying to discover things around you. You still did not figure out your road in life.

Your head is full of all those questions:

  • Should I be a doctor or a painter?
  • Should I marry my partner, or it’s not the right time?
  • Should I start a business or work with a boss?
  • Should I be the best of the first?
  • Should I invest or spend my money?
  • Should I write poems or fiction?

With all the surrounding distractions, you will feel lost, and you are facing more pressure.

You are looking for your purpose; you are wondering how will your journey be?

It’s quite normal, and this may take a lot of energy!

How to survive this stage?

  • Reduce exposure to a lot of social media, this may affect you.
  • Take baby steps
  • Believe in yourself

The second stage: the larva.

It’s the stage of eating that will be stored for later.

So now you are on your path. And you started to have a vision of your journey. So it’s time to nourish your knowledge in that specific field.

This stage is like getting ready for a marathon. You must start training depending on a schedule that fits you.

This must be your ritual:

  • You can read books
  • Listen to audiobooks, this is life-changing
  • Attend courses
  • Ask experts
  • Seek advice

Simply, do your homework.

I love this stage: it’s full of motivation and willingness to become the best version of yourself.

The third stage: Pupa.

It may look like nothing is going on, but big changes are happening inside.

After gaining a lot of pieces of knowledge, it’s time to work hard on it, in silence.

You will start to apply what you learned in authentic life.

Those are some examples:

  • Start building your website after learning how to code
  • Start writing and publishing your articles
  • Start recording your podcast
  • Contact that producer and send your music to every expert

Simply take action!

The last stage: the butterfly:

It’s the glow time, bragging with confidence that you are here, shining!

It’s time to perfect things:

  • If you are writing, you should be installing all the tools that will improve your writing.
  • If you are recording a song, you should make it go viral and post it everywhere.
  • If you are willing to lose weight, update your gym membership to a premium.

In one word, take it to the next level!

In closing, enjoy the process and don’t rush. Every stage has its charm. And you can take your time on every stage.
Be patient, if you follow these stages, the butterfly in you will come up!
Embrace every part and don't forget to enjoy the journey!
